TLC Earns the Highest Recognition from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for LGBTQ+ Inclusion Efforts

The Human Rights Campaign Awarded only 44 agencies in the United States and 10 in California with the Innovative Inclusion recognition- TLC is proud to receive this prestigious award

TLC Child & Family Services is setting the bar for LGBTQ+ inclusion while adapting to the demands of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation 2021 Change-Makers report features three “Tiers of Recognition,” which celebrate the progress agencies have made toward becoming fully welcoming to their LGBTQ+ clients.

  • Innovative Inclusion: 44 organizations met all 25 applicable criteria and are going beyond to innovate their services for LGBTQ+ youth and families
  • Solid Foundation for Inclusion: 40 organizations met all 25 applicable policy and practice criteria for LGBTQ+ inclusion
  • Building Foundation for Inclusion: 25 organizations met foundational criteria, including non-discrimination protections

INNOVATIVE INCLUSION

At this level, agencies are pushing themselves beyond the solid foundation they have built and implementing innovative approaches to LGBTQ+ inclusion in each of the seven key policy and practice areas. Benchmarks at this level also require agencies to demonstrate leadership in areas like policy advocacy or organizational partnerships. Organizations that achieve the Innovative Inclusion Tier receive the “Innovator” Seal of Recognition.

HRC Foundation’s All Children – All Families (ACAF) program to improve the services they provide to the LGBTQ+ community, including children in foster care, 1 in 3 of whom are LGBTQ+, and prospective foster and adoptive parents.

Susan Fette, MFT, CEO said that she is proud that TLC’s strong commitment to the service of LGBTQ+ youth is again being recognized by the Human Rights Campaign.

“LGBTQ youth are overrepresented in foster care and face increased risk of both negative experiences and outcomes,” Fette said. “TLC has been serving the LGBTQ+ Community since 2005 and we have actively worked to improve the services and support that we provide. Receiving the prestigious Seal of Recognition as Innovators is a great honor and inspiration to continue our important work. We hope to create a legacy of visibility for LBGTQ+ foster youth through our daily service and our Project Flare initiative.”
