April 20, 2024 6:30 pm Summerfield Cinemas 551 Summerfield RoadSanta Rosa, CA 95405 Admission: FREE (donations welcome) What is Project Flare? Project Flare is TLC’s LGBTQ+ initiative to serve youth and families who have struggled with acceptance, understanding, isolation, loneliness and/or depression. Project Flare’s goal is to undo aloneness, to provide safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth to connect, and to create leadership opportunities for them. What Videos Are Being Premiered? During a past Project Flare event, TLC created a digital story-making experience for people just like you to share their journey of coming out and acceptance. We call these professionally produced videos Share Your Flare videos, as they offer messages of hope for youth who may not have access to or experiences of acceptance, validation, and support in their lives right now. April 20th, Project Flare will premiere its latest batch of these heartwarming stories, providing the audience with an opportunity to both meet some of the stars of the videos and learn what it means to share your own flare. Who Should Attend the Premiere? Anyone (preferably 12+) who self-identifies as SOGIE Diverse or LGBTQ+ and/or is an ally to someone who is. This includes parents, besties, neighbors, classmates, and teammates who support their LGBTQ+ community and want to hear directly from those who have walked in similar shoes. Let’s fill the Summerfield Theater and show up with and for our LGBTQ+ youth, teens, young adults, and families! |
“Project Flare was extremely important for me. It was really the first time I had ever been with an entire group of people that I could feel comfortable with and could relate to what I am also going through- I made acquaintances with so many brilliant minds there. Because of the event and the support of everyone who works at TLC, I feel hopeful that someday I can speak out about my identity and how it affects my life without feeling guilty about it.”
“Project Flare was a captivating opportunity and really helped me realize how much I matter to the community.”
“Being part of Project Flare really helped me really put who I am into words that I had struggled to find.”
