During this time of political uncertainty, we stand strong as an agency celebrating our BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth and families. As an agency, we strive to be agents of the change we want to see in our country. We are committed to providing culturally and linguistically relevant services — helping empower and uplift those who need it most.
The commitment of our amazing staff, plus the benefits of culturally and linguistically relevant services, are highlighted in a poem from one of our Functional Family Therapy (FFT) Spanish-speaking parents. They share their experience working with TLC. This was written in Spanish and translated by TLC’s bilingual FFT clinician.
Me and My Family by FFT parent:
I was very disconnected from my family, closed off to my job.
I thought that with money I could give them everything.
But, we lost communication and family connection, because I wasn’t giving
them the most important thing, my time.
But now with help, I have learned that communication is what makes a
strong family.
There will be ups and downs, lots of feelings and emotions, lots of finger
pointing, you, he, she.
But if there is communication, there will always be a united family, and a
united family could do anything and take on everything.
