Position Summary:
Under supervision of the Clinical Director or delegate, the Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist will provide support services for youth eligible for specialty mental health services. The Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist will maintain a connected relationship with the youth and the clinical team to encourage and support engagement in treatment in order to increase independent living skills. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide services designed to increase independent living skills to the youth within the context of mental health treatment 
  • Provide interventions including coaching, mentoring, skill building, tutoring and supportive feedback
  • Provide emergency response as needed 
  • Some evenings and weekends will be required
  • Attend to the safety and well-being of the residents at all times
  • Transport children to a variety of appointments using a personal vehicle in safe working order and adequately insured
  • Submit written documentation of services provided 
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and  staff meetings
  • Communicate clearly in writing and verbally to team members about action steps performed and progress made for each case
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy practices
  • Adhere to TLC’s attendance and punctuality policy

Qualifications:

  • Higher education and experience working with children and youth who have serious emotional or behavioral needs or children who have special needs including, but not limited to, intensive medical needs:
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social science or related field plus 6 months of experience  OR
    • Associate’s degree from an accredited college in a social science or related field with 1 year of experience 

Agency Requirements:

  • Obtain and maintain fingerprint, government and agency required background clearances, without additional exemptions
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screen
  • Valid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and auto insurance showing employee as an insured driver on the policy
  • Bilingual preferred

TLC offers a generous benefit package for full time staff including:

●  100% employer paid health, dental and vision plans for the employee. Dependents would be covered at 50% of the base health plan by TLC, dental and vision would be the employee’s responsibility. Coverage is available on the 1st of the month following the date of hire.

●  Paid Time Off: Starting at 14 days per year based on a 40 hour work week. Increases with time of service.

●  Employee ability to contribute toward a 403b retirement plan. TLC offers a matching contribution with vesting schedule, beginning at the completion of 6 months service.
